(Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- August 4, 2008) Ultra-luxury Silversea Cruises today revealed details of its 2009 schedule of expeditions for the Prince Albert II, calling for the ship's deployment in Papeete from mid-March to late October 2009.

An exciting collection of new itineraries will feature the less-traveled regions of Polynesia ranging from the southernmost Austral Islands to the sprawling Tuamotu Archipelago and the northernmost Marquesas Islands. For the balance of the year, the 132-guest luxury expedition ship will offer a series of Antarctic explorations with convenient roundtrip departures from Ushuaia.

The ship's positioning in Tahiti is the result of numerous efforts and successful meetings between Silversea and the French Polynesian government.

In the spirit of true adventure, all itineraries are unstructured by design. Following only a tentative schedule that allows for moment-by-moment flexibility, expeditions stay longer at sites of particular interest, or make slight detours whenever weather, nature or mere curiosity dictate.

Highlights of the 2009 French Polynesia program include:

AUSTRAL ISLAND ADVENTURES

Nestled in the Tropic of Capricorn, the remote Austral Islands lie hundreds of miles south of Tahiti and enjoy a slightly cooler climate. Tubuai, largest of these volcanic islands, is probably best known for the failed landing attempts of the H.M.S. Bounty. (The island's villagers assaulted the unwelcome ship with a barrage of stones, and ultimately the mutineers sailed off to Pitcairn.) Prince Albert II and her fleet of 8 Zodiac boats will explore the unique culture, flora and fauna of Rapa, Raivavae, Tubuai, Rurutu and Rimatara on five 11-day, roundtrip journeys from Papeete. JOURNEYS TO THE MARQUESAS

The mountainous islands of the Marquesas are located nearly 900 miles northeast of Tahiti and just south of the equator. With a lush, vibrant terrain bursting with myriad exotic flowers and fruit trees, it's easy to understand how this tropical paradise captivated the artist Paul Gauguin, who made the Marquesas his adopted home. On four roundtrip journeys of 14 days from Papeete, Prince Albert II's expedition team will lead in-depth explorations of Fatu Hiva, Pua Mau, Hiva Oa, Atuona, Ua Pou, Nuku Hiva and Tahuata, as well as Manihi and Fakarava Island in the Tuamotu Archipelago and the Society Islands of Bora Bora and Tahaa. TUAMOTU EXPEDITIONS

The isolated Tuamotu Islands, northeast of Tahiti, comprise the world's largest chain of atolls. Its 78 sparsely populated coral islands span over 900 miles of aquamarine waters. Dotted with quaint villages, coral churches and an abundance of wildlife -- from bottlenose dolphins and coconut crabs to the rarest of birds, this remote archipelago offers endless possibilities for real Robinson Crusoe-style adventures. Departing from Papeete, Prince Albert II will embark on five 10-day expeditions to the Tuamotu islands of Tikihau, Rangiroa, Apataki, Arutua and Fakarava, as well as Raiatea, Maupihaa and Huahine in the Society Islands. WITH REVISED SCHEDULE FOR SPRING AND SUMMER 2009

(Ft. Lauderdale, FL -- November 17, 2008) Silversea's latest addition to the fleet, the Prince Albert II, which was originally scheduled to reposition from Antarctica to French Polynesia for the 2009 spring and summer seasons, will now sail back to its inaugural destination – the Arctic – on June 1. The ship will operate nine expeditions in the Arctic before heading south to spend fall and winter exploring Antarctica as well as the remote islands of South Georgia and the Falklands.

"We believe there is a strong market demand for this type of product and we are encouraged by the extremely positive response of our guests who visited the region this past summer during the Prince Albert II's inaugural season," said Amerigo Perasso, Silversea's president and CEO. "With an ice-strengthened hull, the ship is well-suited for polar explorations. Operating our vessel in close reach of our three leading markets (United States, United Kingdom and Continental Europe) is all the more justified given the present economic environment."

The Arctic region, which comprises parts of Canada, Norway, Greenland and Iceland, has become a very sought-after destination. It is the untouched beauty of the terrain, its remoteness and indigenous flora and fauna, which have awakened travelers' sense of wonder.

Guests aboard the Prince Albert II will not only travel to the Arctic, but see, feel and experience up-close all it has to offer. With a veteran expedition team, as well as a panel of lecturers and naturalists, including geologists, ornithologists, biologists, and historians, to accompany and guide them on their travels, every day will bring new adventures, such as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spot a polar bear in its natural ice-floe habitat, puffins bathing in the sea, or a family of walruses soaking up the sun.

In fact, with its wide spectrum of Arctic voyages, Silversea should attract all aspiring explorers. Seven-day voyages to either Svalbard or Greenland will provide a great overview of their far-off treasures, be it the early ice of the season or the awakening polar bears, whereas a 10- to 16-day exploration may take you to the farthest corners of the world. On its "Far Side of Svalbard" expedition, the Prince Albert II is set to circumnavigate the archipelago; on its "Frozen Worlds" expedition, plans call for a return visit to the volcanic island of Jan Mayen, whose access was granted to just three vessels in 2008, including Silversea's.

Die auf Luxus-Kreuzfahrten in aller Welt spezialisierte Reederei Silversea Cruises gibt für ihr Expeditionsschiff „M/V Prince Albert II“ neue Routen und ein neues Fahrtgebiet für die Sommersaison 2009 bekannt. Nicht wie ursprünglich geplant in der Südsee, sondern in der Arktis verbringt das 6.072 Tonnen große Schiff die Sommermonate 2009. Silversea folgt damit dem Wunsch vieler Gäste nach einer zweiten Saison der „M/V Prince Albert II“ in der Arktis. Eigens für diese Kreuzfahrten wird erstmals in der mehr als 15jährigen Geschichte der Reederei Deutsch als wichtigste Bordsprache auf einem Silversea-Schiff eingeführt. Von der Routenänderung unberührt bleiben die Winter-Kreuzfahrten der „M/V Prince Albert II“ 2008/2009 und 2009/2010. Dann wird sie jeweils die antarktische Halbinsel sowie die South Orkneys und die Falkland-Inseln besuchen.

Neue Positionierung des Schiffs nach großer Resonanz der Gäste

Zu den Zielen, welche die „M/V Prince Albert II“ im Sommer 2009 ansteuern wird, gehören Norwegen, Island, Grönland und die kanadische Küste. Die Gäste erhalten jeweils ausreichend Gelegenheit, die Fauna und Flora der Region kennen zu lernen. Mit modernen Zodiac-Schlauch­booten werden sie an Land gebracht. Polare Fauna in Grönland, Spitzbergen und auf Jan Mayen

Insgesamt plant Silversea neun Expeditionskreuzfahrten. Das neue Programm wird unter anderem einwöchige Expeditions-Kreuzfahrten nach Spitzbergen und Grönland enthalten, wo die polare Fauna im Mittelpunkt der Erlebnisse stehen wird. Zu den zehn- bis 16-tägigen Reisen zählt auch eine Kreuzfahrt, auf der die „M/V Prince Albert II“ die Vulkaninsel Jan Mayen besuchen wird. Das Schiff wird zu den ganz wenigen gehören mit der Erlaubnis, dort anzulegen. Auf dem Weg in die Arktis wird die „M/V Prince Albert II“ zudem die britischen Inseln und Irland sowie Höhepunkte entlang des englischen Kanals besuchen. Einzelne Kreuzfahrten können außerdem problemlos zu einer großen Expeditionsreise miteinander kombiniert werden.
