Hallo allerseits,

RECORD FINCANTIERI: THE GROUP WILL BUILD 5 CRUISE SHIPS FOR CARNIVAL CORPORATION
The companies finalized the contracts for a total value exceeding 3 billion euros

Trieste, 2 April 2016 – Following the historical agreement of March 2015 and the memorandum of agreement of last December, Fincantieri, leader in cruise ship design and construction, and Carnival Corporation & plc, the world’s largest cruise company, have finalized the contracts for the construction of five next-generation passenger ships.
The historical contracts finalized today envisage one further unit compared to the memorandum of agreement of December and mark the most important goal reached by the two Groups in the last years, having a total value which exceeds 3 billion euros.
Crucial, once more, for the finalization of the agreement, the supporting of the export credit system lead by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Cdp). This support represents for Fincantieri, like for every Italian exporter, an essential element for the efficiency of the “Italian system”.

Two of the new ships will be built for the Costa Crociere brand Costa Asia, other two for Princess Cruises and one for P&O Cruises Australia. They will all be built at the shipyards in Monfalcone and Marghera between 2019-2020, and will operate on the emerging cruise markets, among which China, Australia and others, once entered in their respective fleets.

The announcement was made on board of “Koningsdam”, the new ship of Holland America Line’s fleet, other brand of the Carnival Group, delivered to the shipowner on March 31, and presented today at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera.

The contracts were signed by Micky Arison, Chairman of Carnival Corporation, and Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, in the presence of Graziano Delrio, Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, personally delegated by the Prime Minister’s Office, to represent the Italian Government.
Also attending the ceremony were several authorities and, among others, Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Group, which comprises the Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises Australia and Seabourn brands, Michael Thamm, CEO of the Costa Group, which includes AIDA Cruises and Costa Crociere, and Orlando Ashford, President of Holland America Line.

The new units will be specifically designed and developed for each brand and the guests they will serve. The ships for Costa Asia and P&O Australia will be 135,500-ton vessels with the capacity to carry 4,200 passengers on board.

The ships for Princess Cruises will be 143,700-ton and 3,560-passenger ships and will be the brand’s fourth and fifth vessel of the “Royal Princess” class, after “Royal”, “Regal” and “Majestic”, all built at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, the last of which due to delivery in 2017.

Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, stated: “This result, which is by far one of the most important ever achieved by an Italian industry, makes us proud of the strong commitment made over all these years, which helped to make Fincantieri an excellence acknowledged worldwide for product diversification and quality, with an unparalleled workload in terms of time, which ensures full development and a long-term strategic perspective. Today - concluded Bono – we further strengthen the relationship with our friends in Carnival, a partnership that has enabled both groups to grow over the years and which is further reinforced by an unprecedented strategic agreement. Thanks to it we look at the future in order to develop new projects together and meet the new challenges that the market will present us”.

Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, commented: “Today has been especially exciting for our company, our partners and our guests, as we celebrated the arrival of our amazing ms Koningsdam ship and officially signed agreements with Fincantieri to build five new cruise ships for the future. Supporting our goal to exceed guest expectations on every cruise – continued Donald - these new ships will create a whole new level of excitement and opportunity to deliver experiences that our guests will not only remember for the rest of their lives, but will also share with others. Using our strategic fleet enhancement plan to delight our guests is an important part of our measured growth strategy, which includes replacing less efficient ships with newer, larger and more efficient vessels over a very specific period of time”.

The cooperation between Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation has a remarkable strategic value not only for the shipbuilding industry but for the entire national economy. The contracts announced today, indeed, outline long-term activities from one of the major foreign investors in Italy: the American group, thanks to the partnership with Fincantieri, invested in our country – also counting today’s announcement – almost 30 billion euros. In fact, Fincantieri has built 72 cruise ships since 1990, 60 of which for Carnival’s different brands, while other 24 ships are currently being designed or built in the Group’s yards, 11 of which for the shipowners of the American group.

World's largest leisure travel company finalizes new ship agreements during official handover ceremony for Holland America Line's ms Koningsdam, attended by Italy's Minister of Infrastructure and Transport

MIAMI, April 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), the world's largest leisure travel company, today announced that it has finalized contracts with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. to build five new cruise ships as part of a memorandum of agreement announced in 2015. The five new ships include two that will be built for Costa Asia for deployment in China, two ships for Princess Cruises and one designated for P&O Cruises Australia, with deliveries expected in 2019 and 2020.

The contracts were formalized during a signing ceremony held today as part of the official handover ceremony for Holland America Line's ms Koningsdam at Fincantieri's shipyard in Marghera, Italy, attended by Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Graziano Delrio, Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison, Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald and Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono.

Also in attendance were Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Group, which includes the company's Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, P&O Cruises Australia and Seabourn brands; Michael Thamm, CEO of Costa Group, which includes AIDA Cruises, Costa Cruises and Costa Asia; Neil Palomba, president of Costa Cruises; and Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line.

The new ships for both Costa Asia and P&O Cruises Australia are expected to be 135,500-ton vessels with the capacity to carry 4,200 passengers. The 143,700-ton, 3,560-passenger ships for Princess Cruises will be the brand's fourth and fifth Royal-class vessels, featuring the successful design platform used on Royal Princess, Regal Princess and the new Majestic Princess coming in 2017.

Carnival Corporation's new ships will be specifically designed and developed for each brand and the guests and markets it will serve, supporting the corporation's overall goal of providing extraordinary vacation experiences for an exceptional value for its guests around the world. The five new ships across three brands will be built at Fincantieri's shipyards in Monfalcone and Marghera, Italy.

Carnival Corporation has now taken delivery of two new ships in 2016 – AIDAprima for AIDA Cruises and ms Koningsdam for Holland America Line. Including the five new ships highlighted during today's signing ceremony with Fincantieri, Carnival Corporation has a total of 16 new ships scheduled to be delivered between 2016 and 2020.

"Today has been especially exciting for our company, our partners and our guests, as we celebrated the arrival of our amazing ms Koningsdam ship and officially signed agreements with Fincantieri to build five new cruise ships for the future," said Arnold Donald. "Supporting our goal to exceed guest expectations on every cruise, these new ships will create a whole new level of excitement and opportunity to deliver experiences that our guests will not only remember for the rest of their lives, but will also share with others. Using our strategic fleet enhancement plan to delight our guests is an important part of our measured growth strategy, which includes replacing less efficient ships with newer, larger and more efficient vessels over a very specific period of time."

"We are extremely proud of the strong commitment between Carnival Corporation and Fincantieri over the years, which signifies our dedication to excellence in product diversification and quality," said Giuseppe Bono. "Today, we further strengthen the relationship with our friends at Carnival Corporation, a partnership that has enabled both groups to grow over the years and which is further reinforced by an unprecedented strategic agreement. Thanks to our strategic partnership, we look forward to the future, and the potential to develop new projects while working together to meet the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities that the market will present us."

The new Costa Cruises Asia ships will prominently feature the brand's "Italy's finest" experience, with the new ship design serving to enhance the overall onboard immersion in Italy's unique style, hospitality, entertainment and culinary excellence. The new ship order will also strengthen Costa Asia's leadership and position in the region, as well as its commitment to continuously develop Asia Pacific and China to be one of the leading cruise markets in the world.

The P&O Cruises Australia ship, the brand's first-ever newbuild construction, will be designed to capture the essence of modern Australia and will feature the largest passenger capacity of any ship in the line's fleet, serving 4,200 passengers. The new ship will join an already growing fleet that was recently expanded with the addition of Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden in November 2015, and will see the introduction of the 2,000-passenger Pacific Explorer in 2017. Australia is one of the fastest growing cruise markets in the world, with an average annual passenger growth rate of 20 percent over the past decade, and the enhanced fleet for P&O Cruises Australia will help meet growing cruise demand in the region.

The new Princess Cruises ships will include the signature elements that have become synonymous with the Princess guest experience such as a soaring central atrium hub with multiple dining, entertainment and retail venues; Movies Under the Stars outdoor cinema experience; and 80 percent of all staterooms with balconies. The ships will also include new innovations to enhance the guest experience even further.

Today's news signifying that the five new ships are officially under contract with Fincantieri is a result of the memorandum of agreement announced by Carnival Corporation and Fincantieri in December 2015, and builds on the larger strategic shipbuilding partnership announced by the two companies in March 2015. Specific ship features and deployment details will be announced by each brand at a future date.
Costa Group: Order with Fincantieri to Build Two New Ships for Costa Asia

The two ships will be delivered in 2019 and 2020. They will be the 13th and 14th ships built in Italy by Fincantieri for Costa, with a total investment worth more than 6 billion euro.

Genoa, April 2, 2016 – The Costa Group today announced an order for two new ships to be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The ships, each with 135,500 gross tons and carrying 4,200 guests, will be delivered in 2019 and 2020. They will be operated by Costa Asia, the Asian brand of the Costa Group, and specifically designed for the Chinese market.

Costa Asia new ships are part of contracts signed today by Carnival Corporation & plc with Fincantieri to build five new ships by 2020 at the company's shipyards in Monfalcone and Marghera, Italy, finalizing a memorandum of agreement announced in 2015.

Costa Asia new ships will be the 13th and 14th cruise ships built in Italy by Fincantieri for Costa, with a total investment worth more than 6 billion euro. The projects are expected to employ thousands of shipyards workers and employees of allied industries in Italy. The benefits in terms of employment will extend beyond the yards, especially regarding the fitting-out of the interiors of the cruise ships, with the involvement of contracted suppliers, most of which are Italian firms.

"We are happy to continue our long-standing strategic partnership with the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. This new investment is expected to create wealth and employment for the Italian country as a whole. As for Costa Diadema, the latest Costa ship built by Fincantieri and the best expression of Italy's finest, also Costa Asia ships will feature an innovative Italian style design. In addition this new order will allow us to continue significantly build the Chinese cruise market, which will become the second largest in the world at the end of the decade" - said Michael Thamm, CEO of the Costa Group.

Thanks to the new ships announced today, the Costa Group has seven new ships on order with a total capacity of 41,000 berths (three for the German brand Aida Cruises; two for the Italian brand Costa Cruises; two for Costa Asia), bringing the total capacity of the fleet to 110,000 berths.

The Costa Group was the first cruise company to enter the Chinese market back in 2006. Three Costa ships are currently deployed in China and Asia year-round: Costa Atlantica, Costa Victoria and Costa Serena. A fourth ship, Costa Fortuna, will be added in late April 2016. Costa cruises are marketed in China as "Italy at Sea", offering an authentic Italian and European experience for Chinese guests, with high-quality hospitality, style, cuisine and entertainment.
New Cruise Era Begins as P&O Formalises Contract for First New Ship

P&O Cruises Australia has marked a major milestone in the creation of its first new ship, finalising its contract with shipbuilder Fincantieri in Italy on the weekend.

Launching in 2019, the 135,500-tonne vessel will be the first cruise ship built specifically for the Australian and New Zealand market.

The largest ship to join P&O Cruises' fleet, the new build will carry more than 4200 guests, offering double the capacity of the biggest cruise vessel currently homeporting year round in this market.

P&O Cruises President Sture Myrmell said the finalisation of the contract for the new build heralded a new chapter for cruising in Australia.

"This is a very proud moment for P&O and a significant step forward in our continued growth in this market," Mr Myrmell said.

"Our new build will be a ship like no other, reflecting the tastes of modern Australia and building on the ongoing evolution of P&O Cruises' product in recent years. We are incredibly excited to be creating this ship and can't wait to reveal details over the months ahead."

Measuring 323 metres in length and with 2100 guest rooms, the new ship will be based year round in Australia, and will offer itineraries from three to 10 days duration.

The finalisation of the contract follows the announcement late last year of a memorandum of agreement between P&O's parent company, Carnival Corporation & plc and Fincantieri for five new ships including P&O Cruises' new build. As the world's largest travel and leisure company, Carnival Corporation has an existing fleet of 100 cruise ships and a total of 16 new ships scheduled for delivery between 2016 and 2020.

The creation of Australia's first new build forms part of the ongoing expansion of P&O Cruises Australia, which saw the addition of two ships – Pacific Eden and Pacific Aria – last year, taking the present fleet to five ships.

P&O will also take delivery of another ship, the refurbished 2000-guest Pacific Explorer, in May next year, while the smaller 1600-guest Pacific Pearl will depart the fleet in April.

"With an average annual 20 per cent growth in passenger numbers over the past decade, Australia is one of the fastest growing cruise markets in the world. Our expansion will not only help meet surging demand, it will also drive future growth by enticing more Australians to holiday at sea," Mr Myrmell said.

The contract was signed on Saturday at a ceremony at Fincantieri's shipyard in Marghera attended by Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Graziano Delrio, Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison, Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald, Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono and Stein Kruse, CEO of Holland America Group, which includes P&O Cruises Australia.

Hallo Equinox,

ich weiß, was Du meinst.

Carnival Corporation Signs Agreement with Shell to Fuel World's First LNG-Powered Cruise Ships

Shell to become supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG), world's cleanest burning fossil fuel, for two next-generation, LNG-powered cruise ships from company's AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises brands

Vessels with industry-first "green-cruising" design will enter service in 2019 with dual-fuel engines utilizing LNG for power in port and at sea, with cleaner air emissions that improve air quality

MIAMI, Oct. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Carnival Corporation & plc (NYSE/LSE: CCL; NYSE: CUK), the world's largest leisure travel company, today signed a framework agreement with Shell Western LNG B.V. (Shell) to be its supplier of marine liquefied natural gas (LNG) to power the world's first fully LNG-powered cruise ships. Under this framework agreement, Shell will initially supply Carnival Corporation's AIDA Cruises and Costa Cruises brands with fuel for two new LNG-powered ships expected to launch in 2019 with itineraries visiting popular northwest European and Mediterranean ports.

As part of the agreement, these two ships, built with Carnival Corporation's next-generation "green cruising" ship design, will utilize Shell's infrastructure in cruise ports to refuel with LNG throughout their itineraries. The vessels, equipped with dual-fuel engines, are the first of a new generation of cruise ships fully powered by LNG both while in port and at sea -- an industry first and an environmental breakthrough that will improve air quality with cleaner emissions and produce the most efficient ships in company history.

"We are committed to reducing our air emissions and improving air quality by evaluating new and established solutions such as LNG -- an especially promising option because of its environmental and other benefits," said Tom Strang, senior vice president of maritime affairs for Carnival Corporation. "We are proud to be on the forefront of advancing LNG as a fuel source for the cruise industry and creating an entirely new model for powering next-generation cruise ships. We look forward to a productive partnership with Shell, which has the experience and shared commitment to quality, safety and operational efficiency needed to help us bring this innovative LNG initiative to life with the first fully LNG-powered ships in the global cruise industry."

Pioneering a new era in the use of alternative fuels that reduce air emissions, these ships will be the first in the cruise industry use LNG to generate 100 percent of the ship's power both in port and on the open sea – an innovation that will significantly improve air quality to help protect the environment and support Carnival Corporation's aggressive sustainability goals.

"We have been working closely with Carnival to get to this point in our commercial partnership," said Lauran Wetemans, Shell's General Manager Downstream LNG. "Working together from an early stage is critical in helping the transition to cleaner LNG cruising. This is a unique partnership that will contribute to a robust and reliable LNG fuel supply chain, along with opportunities for future growth."

This agreement builds on the partnership established between Carnival Corporation's AIDA Cruises brand and Shell in April of this year to supply its AIDAprima ship with LNG to power the vessel while docked. The AIDAprima is the first cruise ship in the world to use LNG while in port, leading to a major reduction in emissions. Additionally, the agreement furthers the realization of Carnival Corporation's LNG efforts that began in 2015 with AIDAsol becoming the first cruise ship in the world to be supplied with power by an LNG hybrid barge, which also saw major benefits while in port.

Today's announcement was made on the heels of the company's order in September of three additional next-generation cruise ships that will be fully powered by LNG, bringing its fully LNG-powered ship orders total to seven across four of its 10 global cruise lines. Two of the new LNG-powered ships are designated for the world's most popular cruise brand, Carnival Cruise Line, with delivery dates expected in 2020 and 2022, and one is designated for P&O Cruises UK with an expected delivery date in 2020. The remaining two vessels will also be built for the Costa Cruises and AIDA Cruises brands and are expected to enter service in 2021.

As part of the framework agreement, Carnival Corporation and Shell have the opportunity to partner together on supplying marine LNG fuel to future LNG-powered vessels or additional itineraries. The overarching agreement enables each Carnival Corporation brand to negotiate individual LNG supply contracts with Shell as new LNG-powered cruise ships begin to launch in coming years.

Hallo allerseits,

New 133,500-Ton Vista Class Ship To Join Carnival Cruise Line Fleet In 2019

MIAMI, Dec. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A new 133,500-ton cruise ship, which will be the third vessel in the company's Vista class series, will join the Carnival Cruise Line fleet in late 2019. The ship, under contract with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, was originally designated for the P&O Cruises Australia brand. In conjunction with this change, Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Splendor will be transferred to P&O Cruises Australia in late 2019.

The ship will offer many of Carnival's most popular guest features, a wide range of accommodation types and a number of new innovations unique to this vessel. The ship's name, homeport and itinerary details will be announced at a later date.

"We are truly thrilled to have another Vista class ship joining our fleet," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. "Carnival Vista, which was named the best new ship of 2016 in the Cruise Critic Editors Picks awards, has proven to be the most innovative and popular ship we've ever introduced. Consumer, travel agent and media reaction to the Vista class design has been extraordinary and we are elated to have two additional ships in this spectacular series now joining our fleet – Carnival Horizon, which is scheduled to be delivered in March 2018, and now a third in 2019."

Duffy added that the introduction of these ships to the Carnival fleet provides the opportunity to offer the Vista class experience from a variety of homeports in addition to creating exciting new itinerary options across the balance of the Carnival Cruise Line fleet as this additional capacity is integrated into the deployment mix.
Und hier die PM von P&O Cruises Australia:
Latest Global Cruise Market Review Prompts Decision to Add 3000-Guest Ship to P&O Cruises Australia Fleet In 2019

P&O Cruises Australia’s fleet will be bolstered with the addition of a 3000-guest ship in 2019 to maintain the cruise line’s momentum in our growing market, effectively doubling P&O’s capacity over a period of just four years.

A decision being announced today to move Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Splendor to the P&O Cruises Australia fleet is designed to maintain the pace of P&O’s growth momentum and follows a global market review.

P&O Cruises Australia is the region’s largest and longest-serving cruise operator, and leads the way in cruising as the only home grown brand.

“We benefit from being part of a global organisation with a worldwide fleet of cruise ships that ensure we have the flexibility to make the most of opportunities in our region and to adjust our strategies accordingly,” P&O Cruises Australia President Sture Myrmell said.

“Having reviewed the market, we believe a 3000-passenger ship is the right sized ship for the P&O fleet to drive further sustained growth in our market.”

P&O will now defer previously announced plans for a new build ship which was scheduled for delivery in 2019. The new build will instead join Carnival Cruise Line to make the most of projected growth in the North American market.

Mr Myrmell said the 113,000-tonne Carnival Splendor, which is 50 per cent bigger than P&O’s largest ship, will make its mark as the local fleet’s biggest ship.

“Welcoming a transformed and re-named Carnival Splendor to the P&O Cruises’ fleet in 2019 on the back of the addition of Pacific Explorer in mid 2017 cements our position as Australia’s leading cruise line and the only true home grown Australian brand,” Mr Myrmell said.

“In four years P&O Cruises will have doubled capacity by welcoming four ships – Pacific Aria, Pacific Eden and Pacific Explorer as well as the additional ship in 2019 – as part of the remarkable evolution of the brand.

“As the Australian and New Zealand markets develop, we want to make certain that P&O Cruises is front-and-centre to capture growth with the addition of the biggest ship yet.”

The ship has some fantastic features that are well suited to the Australian and New Zealand market and year round cruising in the region.

“The ship is already suited to year round cruising with features that support P&O’s contemporary style of cruising. Before joining the fleet, she will be refurbished to reflect the P&O look-and-feel and build in the experiences core to our offering,” Mr Myrmell said.

While P&O’s desire to grow its position in an increasingly competitive market was the core reason for the change in plans, Mr Myrmell said other longer term factors couldn't be ignored in the recent market review.

“It is increasingly apparent that the improvement of cruise ship infrastructure in Australia and across the Pacific is not moving as fast as we had hoped to support a ship the size of the new build we had intended for the fleet in 2019,” he said. “We also look forward to greater certainty around costs, berth availability and infrastructure.”

Carnival Splendor will join the P&O fleet at the end of 2019. More details regarding the ship’s transfer, features and itineraries will be announced at a later date.

Hallo allerseits,
