Offizielle Stellungnahmen von Star Cruises oder der Meyer Werft liegen allerdings nicht vor. Bei Meyer ließ Star Cruises Ende der 90er Jahre die Superstar Leo (heute Norwegian Spirit) und die Superstar Virgo bauen. Zwei weitere Schiffe, die Superstar Libra und die Superstar Scorpio wurden schließlich 2001 und 2002 als Norwegian Star und Norwegian Dawn fertiggestellt. Desweiteren unterzeichneten Meyer und Star Cruises im Sommer 1999 Vorverträge für den Bau von zwei 112.000 BRZ großen Schiffen der sogenannten Sagittarius-Klasse. Sogar eine Computerzeichnung der Schiffe wurde veröfentlicht. Geplant für die Jahre 2003 und 2005, wurden sie jedoch nie gebaut, denn die Vorveträge wurden nicht in Festaufträge umgewandelt.

Interessant: der Vertrag soll zum 14. Januar 2014 in Kraft treten, bis dahin müssen noch ein paar Bedingungen geklärt werden.
Ablieferungstermin ist der 12.Oktober 2016; also in ziemlich genau drei Jahren. Die Baunummer bei Meyer lautet: S.711

Raoul, auf welche Größe (in BRZ) würdest Du das Schiff auf Grundlage der bekannten Daten ungefähr schätzen? So um die 130.000 BRZ? Mein Eindruck ist, dass die angegebene Passagierkapazität im Verhältnis zum Baupreis relativ klein ist, was entweder auf eine besonders teure Ausstattung oder ein eine großzüge passenger/space ratio hindeuten würde.

Schön wäre es, wenn sich das Design am Entwurf der Sagittarius-Klasse anlehnen würde, aber jenes Konzept ist ja schon 14 Jahre alt.

Das 150.000-BRZ-große Schiff mit 1680 Kabinen wird im Herbst 2016 abgeliefert.

Dieser Neubau erhöht den Auftragsbestand der Werft auf sieben große Kreuzfahrtschiffe, die bis 2017 abgeliefert werden. Bernard Meyer, geschäftsführender Gesellschafter der Werft, unterstrich, dass die langjährige Zusammenarbeit mit Star Cruises nun erfreulicherweise fortgesetzt werden könne. „Der Bau eines modernen Kreuzfahrtschiffes speziell für den asiatischen Markt ist eine große Herausforderung für uns. Star Cruises to build a new ship specially for Asia

Hong Kong, 15 October, 2013 - Star Cruises, the leading cruise line in Asia-Pacific, has commissioned the construction of a brand new mega vessel to meet the growing demands from the Asian market. Once completed, the ship, of about 150,000 tonnes with more than 1,600 cabins, will be the largest ship permanently homeported in Asia. It will also be the largest under the Star Cruises brand.

The Euro707.2 million (HK$7.465 billion) ship is expected to be delivered in late 2016. The ship can carry up to 4,500 passengers and 2,000 crew members. The 18-deck luxury cruise ship, approximately 330 meters long, will feature 33 Food and Beverage outlets such as restaurants, bars and cafes specializing in international and Asian cuisines, a state-of-the-art modern theatre, and 19 world-class recreation, health & fitness and MICE facilities such as aqua slides, kids’ waterpark and meeting rooms, etc.

To cater to the preference of Asia cruisers, more than 1,000 square meters of floor area will be designated for retail. With luxury products from all over the world available on this shopping centre on the sea, cruisers can treat themselves to a shopping spree whenever and wherever they want.

As the pioneer responsible for introducing cruising to Asia 20 years ago, Star Cruises best understands the ever changing taste and trend of Asian customers. The new ship will be tailor-made to satisfy the demands of the Asian market. Die Ablieferung ist für den Herbst 2017 geplant. Es handelt sich bei diesem Auftrag um ein Schwesterschiff des bereits im Oktober bestellten Schiffstyps.

Die großzügige Innenarchitektur der Schiffe, die Vielzahl von Restaurants und Casinos, das besondere Design der Kabinen sowie das umfangreiche Unterhaltungsangebot an Bord sind auf den asiatischen Markt ausgerichtet. Mit einer Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 24 Knoten wird das neue Schiff viele aufregende Ziele im asiatischen Raum anlaufen. Als Trendsetter galten seinerzeit bereits die ersten Schiffe für Star Cruises, die Superstar Leo und Superstar Virgo, die 1998/1999 von der MEYER WERFT geliefert wurden.

Durch diesen Auftrag wächst das Auftragsbuch der Werft auf sieben Kreuzfahrtschiffe, die bis zum Herbst 2017 abgeliefert werden. Die Geschäftsführung und die Belegschaft freuen sich sehr darüber, dieses Schiff für Star Cruises in Papenburg bauen zu können um damit die Beschäftigung auf der Werft und bei ihren Partnerfirmen langfristig sichern zu können.

This marks the beginning of the first of two new mega cruise ships that will be delivered in fall 2016 and fall 2017 respectively, to be homeported in Asia.

Brennstart für eine neues Schiff für Star Cruises
Baubeginn des Schiffes, das 2016 fertiggestellt wird

Papenburg, 09. Februar 2015 – Mit dem Brennstart der ersten Stahlplatte beginnt der Bau eines neuen Schiffes mit der Baunummer S.711, einem neuen Schiff für die asiatische Reederei Star Cruises.

Tan Sri Lim, Chairman von Star Cruises, drückte den Startknopf der computergesteuerten Brennmaschine und setzte damit die Bearbeitung der ersten Stahlplatte für das neue Kreuzfahrtschiff in Bewegung. Die Fertigstellung des ersten von zwei Schiffen ist für Herbst 2016 geplant. Das Schwesterschiff folgt ein Jahr später, im Herbst 2017.

Die neuen Schiffe für Star Cruises werden bei einer Größe von 151.000 BRZ ca. 4.500 Passagieren Platz bieten. Die Schiffe sind 335 Meter lang, 39,7 Meter breit und erreichen eine Geschwindigkeit von mehr als 23 Knoten. Konzipiert sind die neuen Kreuzfahrtschiffe für den sich sehr schnell entwickelnden asiatischen Kreuzfahrtmarkt.

Das Management und die Projektteams von Star Cruises und der MEYER WERFT nahmen an der kleinen Feierstunde anlässlich des Brennstarts im Laserzentrum teil.

Inzwischen ist das Bauteil schon in Papenburg eingetroffen. Seit gestern zeigt die Meyer-Webcam auch den Bau der GENTING WORLD, obwohl eine offizielle Kiellegungszeremonie noch nicht stattgefunden hat,vielleicht wird diese ja noch nachgeholt wie damals bei der NORWEGIAN JEWEL.

Hong Kong, 11 November, 2015 – Genting Hong Kong, a leading global leisure, entertainment and hospitality enterprise, unveiled its plans to claim Asia’s premium cruise market with the introduction of Dream Cruises, the first-ever Asian based premium cruise line brand.

Aboard Star Cruises’ highly-acclaimed SuperStar Virgo, Genting Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay announced to 1,000 special guests, including media and travel agents, the launch of Dream Cruises with the building and delivery of two new ships that will attract and cater specifically to Asia’s premium sector. Dream Cruises’ first ship, Genting Dream will debut in November 2016, while its sister ship World Dream will sail in November 2017.

“Being the first company to offer cruises in China over 20 years ago with Star Cruises, we conceived Genting Dream three years ago to be the only purpose-built premium category new build for the Asian, and specifically Chinese, market. Dream Cruises’ ships will be the most spacious ships in Asia Pacific and provide the highest level of guest service in the region,” said Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “The launch of Dream Cruises completes the Company’s mission of having a brand for each of the three major cruise market segments – Crystal Cruises for the luxury segment, Dream Cruises for the premium segment and Star Cruises for the contemporary segment.”

Genting Dream will carry 3,400 guests and 2,000 crewmembers, giving the 150,000-ton vessel the largest guest space ratio of 45 tons per guest as well as the highest crew-to-guest ratio at 1.7 of any Asia Pacific ship. The German-built ship will be the most spacious large cruise ship in Asia Pacific boasting two exclusive floors of “Dream Suites” measuring from 32 to 183 square meters and features European butler service and special privileges. The accommodations aboard Genting Dream will reflect both size and choice for travelers, with 70 percent of Genting Dream’s staterooms offering private balconies, and more than 100 connecting rooms that will cater to larger extended families.

In addition to offering a range of accommodations, Genting Dream will showcase more than 35 restaurants and bars onboard with a culinary emphasis on Asia, specifically for Chinese guests, offering dining experiences from all the regional cuisines of China as well international favorites such as Japanese, South East Asian, Italian, and more.

Guests on Genting Dream will have no trouble staying active on board with the ship’s plethora of recreation and enrichment venues including a variety of pools, six water slides, a 610-meter wrap around promenade, play rooms, a rope climbing course, a bowling alley, mahjong and card rooms, and duty-free shopping. Genting Hong Kong has appointed Thatcher Brown as president of Dream Cruises and he brings a vast knowledge of international hotel and cruise experience to Dream Cruises, and has the distinction of being one of the first employees of Crystal Cruises when the company began 25 years ago.

“It is our mission to transpose the legendary six-star service standards of Crystal Cruises and to customize them to serve the fast growing Chinese market and all our Asian guests,” said Brown. “All front line staff will be able to speak Putonghua, along with English, as the secondary language onboard.”

Joining Brown at Dream Cruises is Norbert Tesar, a 20-year Crystal Cruises hotel management veteran, who will train all 2,000 crew onboard and Ural Korkmaz, a 15-year head butler with Crystal Cruises, who will train all butlers serving guests in the 142 Dream Suites on board Genting Dream.

When it commences sailing in November 2016, Genting Dream will have triple homeports in Guangzhou (Nansha Port), Hong Kong and Sanya. The ship will serve residents of the Pearl Delta and Hainan and domestic and international guests flying into the airports of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Macau, Hong Kong and Sanya.

Itineraries from the Guangzhou (Nansha Port) will offer a year-round 2-night weekend cruise departing Fridays calling at Hong Kong and a 5-night weekday cruise on Sundays calling at Halong Bay, Danang and Sanya. The Hong Kong homeport will feature a 7-night itinerary calling at Guangzhou, Halong Bay, Danang, Sanya and either Shenzhen or Zhuhai using Nansha Port.
