Hallo allerseits,

FINCANTIERI: “VIKING SKY” DELIVERED IN ANCONA

Trieste, January 26, 2017 – “Viking Sky”, the third of six cruise ships Viking Ocean Cruises has ordered from Fincantieri, has been delivered today at the shipyard in Ancona.

“Viking Sky”, as its sister ships, is placed in the small cruise ship segment. In fact, with a gross tonnage of about 47,800 tons, it has 465 cabins with accommodation for 930 passengers, with a total capacity of over 1,400 people, including the crew.

The ship has been designed by experienced naval architects and engineers, including an interior design team of London-based SMC Design, and Los Angeles-based Rottet Studios, who transferred on “Viking Sky” a modern design of Scandinavian inspiration, featuring sophisticated elegance but functional, at the mean time. In addition to the all-veranda staterooms, the ship also has spacious suites with sweeping views, two pools, of which one Infinity Pool off the stern, and a Spa designed according to the wellness philosophy of the Scandinavian tradition, with a sauna and a snow grotto.

The Viking Ocean Cruises units are all built according to the latest navigation regulations and equipped with the most modern safety systems, including the “Safe return to port”. Furthermore, they feature the most advanced technologies for energy saving and for meeting the strictest environmental regulations with energy-efficient engines and an exhaust gas cleaning system.

The first of the series, “Viking Star”, has been built at the shipyard in Marghera and delivered in spring 2015, the second, “Viking Sea”, took the sea from the shipyard in Ancona at the beginning of 2016, while “Viking Sun”, the fourth unit launched in the same yard a month ago, will enter into service in autumn 2017. The last two units will instead be delivered respectively in 2018 and 2019.

Fincantieri has built 76 cruise ships from 1990 to today, while other 27 are currently being designed or built in the Group’s yards.

Hallo allerseits,

Fincantieri soll zwei weitere Schiffe für Viking bauen, die 2021 und 2022 fertiggestellt werden sollen. Hier die PM der Bauwerft:
FINCANTIERI TO BUILD 2 ADDITIONAL SHIPS FOR VIKING OCEAN CRUISES The number of ocean ships ordered increases to 8 18 April 2017

Trieste, April 18, 2017 – VikingOcean Cruises and Fincantieri signed a memorandum of agreement for the construction of two additional cruise ships, with an option for another two.

The new builds will be sister ships to the six already ordered and will enter Viking fleet in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The final contracts will become effective upon the fulfilment of financing and other customary closing conditions.

The new ships will follow the same successful and award-winning design as the current ships ordered and in operation. The entire fleet is comprised of all-veranda staterooms; each ship has a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons and accommodates 930 guests in 465 cabins. As with the other sister ships, the new ships will be built according to the latest navigation regulations and equipped with the most modern safety systems, including the “Safe return to port” system.

The first ship built for Viking Ocean Cruises, Viking Star® was delivered at the shipyard in Marghera in spring 2015. The second and the third ships, Viking Sea® and Viking Sky®, took the sea from the yard in Ancona, respectively, in early 2016 and early 2017. Viking will take delivery of the fourth ship, Viking Sun®, in late 2017 and the fifth ship, Viking Spirit®, in 2018. A sixth, yet-to-be-named ship will be delivered in 2019, marking Viking as the largest small ship ocean cruise line.

Viking is forecasted to have a dominant market share of the luxury ocean industry in 2020 of 23.9% (on a per berth basis according to Cruise Industry News). The additional vessels will add to this already impressive statistic.

FINCANTIERI AND VIKING: AGREEMENT FOR 6 FURTHER SHIPS The number of units built for this company rises to 16 06 March 2018

Trieste, March 6, 2018 – During the Seatrade Cruise Global, the most important annual event in the cruise sector, currently under way in Fort Lauderdale (Florida, USA), Fincantieri and Viking have announced that they entered an agreement for 6 further ocean ships, which would lead to a total number of 16 units built in cooperation between the two companies, expanding the horizon of the partnership until 2027.

The understanding for the new ships, whose delivery is scheduled for the years 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027, is subject to specific conditions. In fact, Fincantieri and the shipowner will develop an advanced project based on the successful characteristics of the previous ships, updated and revisited in line with the latest technologies available on the market.

Viking’s current ocean fleet includes ships having exclusively all-veranda staterooms, a gross tonnage of about 47,800 tons with accommodation for 930 passengers in 465 cabins.

As of today, Fincantieri has delivered 4 ships to Viking Ocean Cruises. The first of the series, “Viking Star”, has been built at the shipyard in Marghera and delivered in March 2015; the second the third and the fourth, “Viking Sea”, “Viking Sky” and “Viking Sun”, took the sea from the Ancona shipyard respectively in March 2016, January and September 2017. The further six units in the order book will be delivered respectively in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 (2 units) and 2023.

On the sidelines of today’s announcement, Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, commented: “We are proud to have trusted a start up which has proved highly successful. In 2012, in fact, the partnership with this prestigious ship owner began with two ships and as of today we nearly count 16 units. It’s an all-time record, the highest number of ships from one single ship owner for a shipyard, which makes Viking, already the worldwide first river cruise company, the leader also in the small ship ocean cruise market”. Bono then continued: “Furthermore, the agreement confirms the extraordinary moment of the demand in this sector. This allows Fincantieri to consolidate its worldwide leadership, laying the groundwork to enhance the order book with a workload ensuring today work safety for the next 10 years”.
