Disney Cruise Line hat heute Details zur neuen "Disney Dream" bekanntgegeben, die derzeit auf der Meyer Werft entsteht. Interessant ist, daß das Schiff auf Kurzreisen zu den Bahamas von maximal fünf Nächten Dauer eingesetzt wird. Buchungseröffnung ist am 09.11.2009.

AquaDuck Water Coaster. . .

Disney Cruise Line debuts a cruise-industry first: a shipboard water coaster … AquaDuck! Guests aboard the Disney Dream will get swept away on an exhilarating high-speed flume ride featuring twists, turns, drops, uphill acceleration and river rapids – all while traversing the upper decks of the ship.

AquaDuck stretches 765 feet in length - more than two and a half times the length of a football field - and spans four decks in height.
Guests slide 13 feet over the side of the ship in a translucent "swing out" loop allowing them to look down on the ocean 150 feet below.
Guests experience coaster-like thrills as high-powered water jets push them upwards and forwards at 20 feet per second.
AquaDuck continues through the forward funnel, encounters a 335 foot stretch of river rapids and splashes down to an end on Deck 12.
A Virtual Porthole for Inside Staterooms. . .

Disney Cruise Line introduces another stateroom innovation with all inside staterooms on the Disney Dream featuring a Virtual Porthole that provides guests with a real-time view outside the ship. High-definition cameras placed on the exterior of the ship feed live video to each Virtual Porthole.

As guests observe the impressive outside views, they may glimpse a magical surprise: animated characters such as Peach the starfish from the Disney•Pixar hit film “Finding Nemo,” or Mickey Mouse may pop by the Virtual Porthole.

A Magical Oasis for Children. . .

Only on a Disney Cruise Line ship can children become immersed in their favorite Disney stories with the help of caring counselors, beloved Disney characters and a sprinkling of pixie dust. The celebration of children’s creativity rises to a new level on the Disney Dream with nearly an entire deck of youth spaces designed to inspire, entertain and unlock the imagination of children. There are two main spaces for children ages three to 10:

At Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, children feel as though they are embarking on a great seafaring adventure in a room filled with maps, maritime instruments and swashbuckling artifacts. Here, children can try their hand at animation, become a pop star or navigate ships through digital seas.

Both venues offer magical interactions with the animated characters such as Crush, the sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar motion picture “Finding Nemo” and Stitch, the mischievous alien from “Lilo and Stitch.” The characters chat, play and joke with children in live, unrehearsed conversations from their digital undersea and intergalactic environments via 103-inch plasma screens.

Chill-Out Zones for Tweens and Teens. . .

Located inside the forward funnel is Edge – the lounge just for tweens (ages 11 to 13). This tween pad is filled with a multitude of hi-tech entertainment including the ability to create and star in photo postcards and video karaoke using green-screen technology.

Teens have their own exclusive club aboard the Disney Dream with Vibe – a trendy and inviting indoor/outdoor space created especially for guests ages 14 to 17. A “teen-only” swipe card provides access to the nearly 9,000-square-foot club.

Teens can create and edit videos, play computer games, access the onboard social media application or try their hand at spinning and mixing dance tracks. Teens have their own private outdoor deck area with chaise lounges for sunbathing, two wading pools, misters and pop jets for cooling off, and deck games such as ping-pong and foosball.

Personal Touches with Rotational Dining. . .

Disney Cruise Line continues its innovative rotational dining concept onboard the Disney Dream with elaborately themed restaurants, distinctly Disney touches, and world-class cuisine to create a magical dining experience. Throughout the cruise, guests “rotate” through three different restaurants for dinner – with their servers accompanying them, providing guests with friendly, familiar, personalized service each night. The rotational dining restaurants include:

Animator's Palate, a signature Disney Cruise Line restaurant that brings the magic of Disney animation into the dining room for a unique experience that will captivate the entire family.
Royal Palace, an elegant restaurant inspired by the classic Disney films "Cinderella," "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," " Beauty and the Beast" and "Sleeping Beauty."

Adults can escape in to The District, a nighttime entertainment area on the Disney Dream with five unique venues. This playground for grownups features sophisticated lounges, each with its own unique design, look, feel and palate-pleaseing delights.

Heiligs Blechle!!!!

Als die Geschichte mit der Achterbahn anfing, hab' ich aufgehört zu lesen. Welche Innovation kommt denn als nächstes? Bungee-jumping vom Kamin? Was hat das noch mit Kreuzfahrtschiffen zu tun? Kein Wunder, daß so manch altgedientes Schiff uns verlassen muß .....

Es ist nicht von einer Achterbahn, sondern von einer "Wildwasserbahn" die Rede. Und gemäß dem Video ist es auch eigentlich mehr eine erweiterte Wasserrutsche, wenn auch sehr "spaßversprechend". Ich persönlich finde die ersten Entwürfe eigentlich ganz gelungen und mir gefällt das Schiff schon mal besser als die Oasis – Innovationen hin oder her. Wer im Massenmarkt der Kreuzfahrt aktiv ist und insbesondere seine Schwerpunkte beim US-Publikum sieht, der ist doch zu solchen Innovationen gezwungen.

Selbstverständlich,

das Schiff ist vom äußeren Design her eine Wucht verglichen mit dem, was die anderen US-Reedereien in Dienst stellen . Natürlich wendet sich Disney an ein Publikum mit Kindern und da muß natürlich etwas anderes geboten werden als bei einem "klassischen Kreuzfahrtanbieter". Aber auch RCCL bietet nun ja ständig eine neue Attraktion. Nur ich mag gerne mit einem Schiff fahren und warum soll ich dann für eine Wasserrutsche, Kletterwand, Eislaufbahn, 25 Zuzahlrestaurants, Karussel, Glasbläserei, etc. mitbezahlen (auch wenn manches aufpreispflichtig ist), wenn ich 's gar nicht nutzen will? Da kann ich auch auf'n Rummelplatz, in's Restaurant oder in einen Vergnügungspark gehen.

Also jedem sein Schiff, nur mein Geschmack ist das Konzept (leider) nicht ...................

Aber ist es nicht so, dass Du eigentlich auf jedem Schiff vieles mitbezahlst, was Du gar nicht nutzt (oder nutzen möchtest)? Sicher, es gibt bestimmt einige wenige Ausnahmen, aber es ist selbst in Hotels an Land so, dass man im Grunde alles mitbezahlt (ich weise da gerne auf einen Klamauk-Sketch mit Dieter Hallervorden an der Hotelrezeption hin, Zitat: "Hab ich doch gar nicht benutzt" – "War doch aber da..."). Dieser Sache wird man vermutlich nie gänzlich aus dem Wege gehen können.

Natürlich, da hast Du vollkommen recht, alleine schon das ganze Spa-Gedöhns, aber das kostet ja Aufpreis. Aber, was soll ich auf einem Schiff, wo es vor Attraktionen, die ich nicht nutzen will, nur so wimmelt. Und da gibt es bei Costa eben weniger als auf so manchem RCCL-Schiff. Ich freue mich jedenfalls schon riesig auf die Bleu de France ohne all den Schnickschnack. Und so gibt es eben Schiffe oder Hotels für jeden Geschmack. An ein Hotel habe ich ja auch nicht viele Ansprüche: Sauberkeit, ein nicht durchgelegenes Bett, eine Dusche und ein schmackhaftes Frühstück reichen vollkommen.

aber es ist doch so, daß die allermeisten Schiffe diese von Dir nicht benötigten "Attraktionen" eben auch nicht bieten. Es ist doch gut, daß es inzwischen für beinahe jeden das richtige Schiff gibt. Aber ich sehe z.B. easyCruise auch nicht als Ärgernis, obwohl ich selbst dann nicht mit denen fahren würde, wenn man mir noch Geld dafür gäbe.

Es hört sich bei Dir eher so an als habe man große Mühe, ein Schiff zu finden, das keine solchen "Attraktionen" besitzt.

Auch sehe ich persönlich keinerlei Gefahr, daß "andere" Schiffe irgendwann aussterben werden.

klar - sicher werden auch die Schiffe mit "besonderen" Attraktionen ihre Liebhaber finden! Und natürlich muß man mit neuen Ideen aufwarten, um neue Kunden anzulocken, gerade in den USA!

Und von mir aus können auch gerne andere an das aussterben traditionellerer Schiffe glauben, ich jedenfalls nicht. Nein so konservativ wie ein anderes Forenmitglied denke ich dann nu wirklich nicht (Sorry, ist nicht böse gemeint )

Allerdings beim planen für die Karibik nächstes Jahr, war es leicht, die "überfrachteten" Schiffe zu umgehen, denn die fahren meistens die Routen, die ich ohnehin nicht gewählt hätte . Nur frage ich mich, welche Gründe es hat, daß fast alle Schiffe dort eine recht beschränkte Auswahl an Zielen anfahren. Sparen die Reedereien dabei? Können manche Schiffe gewisse Häfen aufgrund ihrer Größe nicht mehr anfahren? Buchen an den derzeitigen Standardzielen die Kreuzfahrer besonders fleißig Ausflüge?

ich finde das design der Disney Schiffe herlich- auch die inneneinrichtung gefällt mir sehr. Auch die wildwasserbahn scheint interessant zu sein

Was die attraktionen an bord angehen, es ist doch schön zu sehen wie sich die reedereien um die kundschaft strebt und sich immer was neues einfallen lässt.

Man ja ja gut die großen schiffe umgehen und auf etwas kleinere schiffe gehen die auch noch ordentliche Häfen ansteuer. Ich beliebäugle gerade für 2011 3 reisen: Die constellation. 14 Tage karibik im februar, die Independence of the seas 18 Tage Mittelmeer und was ganz neues, Donaukreuzfahrt. Von den 3 hat gerade mal die Indenpendence was an attraktionen zu bieten. Die constellation beiten halt elegance und die donau halt natur.

Man kann heute ja schön wählen was man will.

Du wirst auch für dich das richtige schiff finden. Wobei die Bleu de france wenigsten noch häfen anläuft die andere schiffe nicht mal ereichen- würde mich auch ineressieren, da ich eher auf die route schaue als mich an die Attraktionen an bord zu halten

Tja mit der Millenium-Klasse wäre ich gerne durch die Karibik geschippert, doch San Juan als Ausgangsort, viel zu unpraktisch (schließlich will ich noch meine Familie in den USA besuchen. Ansonsten hatte ich bislang keine Probleme, das richtige Schiff zu finden und ansonsten gäbe es noch einige, die ich gerne mal ausprobieren möchte, wie die Zenith oder die meisten Princess-Vertreter, oder ................. Und letzlich habe ich mit der Atlantica-Klasse längst meinen (bisherigen) Liebling gefunden.

Mir geht es um was ganz anderes (vielleicht habe ich mich da mißverständlich ausgedrückt). Ich fürchte, daß manches neue Schiff mehr Vergnügungspark ist als Schiff, dass eben der typische "Schiffscharakter" verloren geht. Nehmen wir mal die Solstice, von außen durchaus gelungen und auch von innen wirkt sie durchaus schön (was man anhand von Bildern erkennen kann) aber etwas kalt. Mir fehlt da so eine Art "Wohlfühlfaktor". So bleibt die Costa Victoria immer noch das Schiff, auf dem ich mich am wohlsten gefühlt habe. Aber das ist eben eine reine absolut persönliche Geschmackssache und da hat jeder andere Vorlieben, die von den Reedereien bedient werden wollen / müssen. So würde mich die Route der AIDAblu im April äußerst interessieren. Aber AIDA mit seinem "Marktrestaurant-Konzept" und dem Theatrium mißfällt mir total, aber bis dahin fließt noch viiiiiiiiiel Wasser den Rhein runter

Und bei der Bleu de France kam eben eine tolle Route und ein sehr interessantes Schiff zusammen und so war es bisher bei den meisten Reisen .................. und für die Zukunft mache ich mir wahrlich keine Sorgen.

da gebe ich dir recht. Die meisten schiffe sind heutzutage nur noch Vergnügungsschiffe und haben nichts mit dem eigentlichen Schiffscharakter von früher zu tun.
Die Millennium-klasse gefällt mir sehr und hat was gemütliches. Wie die Atlantica-klasse ist werde ich ja demnächst sehen wenn ich auf eine halbschwetser gehe.
Aber, schauen wir mal wie die Disney ankommt- vielleicht ist es gar nicht so schlimm.

Ich bin auch gespannt, wie die "Disney Dream" in Natura aussieht. Da werde ich dabei sein, wenn sie die Ems runterschippert, dass habe ich mir fest vorgenommen.

da hast Du wohl recht, wenn Du sagst "die meisten Schiffe". Denn gerade Disney ist es (zumindest auf der Disney Wonder) gelungen, eine perfekte Symbiose aus Vergnügen und Charakter zu bilden. Zwar gibt es natürlich jede Menge Action- und Spaßbereiche für die Kinder, aber wir Großen dürfen uns dafür an viel Holz und Marmor, maritimen Elementen und wunderschönem Art Déco erfreuen - äußerst gediegen, stilvoll und klassisch. Nur so zur Anschauung mal ein Bild vom (komplett umlaufenden!) Promenadendeck:



Meiner Meinung nach hat dieses Schiff eine große, warme und schöne Seele, und es bleibt zu hoffen, dass es Disney gelingt, diese auf irgendeine Art auch auf die neuen Schiffe zu übertragen. Da in der obigen Pressemitteilung aber ebenfalls der Begriff Art Déco auftaucht und das Foto einen schnittigen Bug und eine klassische Promenade verheißt, bin ich mal ganz zuversichtlich.

Wir haben Captain Henry auf der Wonder zumindest versprochen, dass wir ihn in bzw. auf seinem neuen Reich mal besuchen werden!

Disney Cruise Line Brings Fun in the Sun, Water Play For Little Ones and Goofy’s Golf on the Disney Dream

CELEBRATION, Fla. (Jan. 26, 2010) – An elaborately themed interactive sports deck, whimsical water play area, and relaxing poolside oasis for adults join the first-ever shipboard water coaster – AquaDuck – to provide fun in the sun for guests sailing on the newest Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Dream.

These additions, announced today, one year from the maiden voyage of the Disney Dream, offer new experiences for guests of all ages.

Goofy’s Sports Deck
On Goofy’s Sports Deck, the magic tees off on deck 13 with Goofy’s Golf – a miniature golf course where “lessons” featuring Goofy and his son, Max, lead guests through nine themed holes of wacky fun. Each hole offers special golf instructions – with a goofy twist. Lessons include:
• “Handling a dog leg” – Guests avoid a fire hydrant and use Pluto’s dog bone to guide them to the hole.
• “Stuck in the rough” – Goofy shows golfers how to avoid the tall turf and steer clear of a lawn mower.
• “Reading the green” – Stacks of books and a large magnifying glass are obstacles to circumvent on this undulating green.
• “Attacking the green” – Yo ho, yo ho! Golfers and landlubbers take a swashbuckling approach to sinking their putt on this pirate-themed hole.

Guests can choose to use the Goofy or Max tee on each hole, offering twice the fun. Family-friendly competitions and tournaments will keep the excitement on par while quirky golf clubs, some crooked and bent, will challenge golfers to stay on course. Goofy and Max may even swing by to interact with guests and offer some tips on club selection, stance or just goofing around.

Also on Goofy’s Sports Deck, two digital sports simulators provide a variety of virtual game experiences such as soccer, tennis, basketball, golf and more. With the simulators, guests can kick, swing and throw, participating in favorite high-action sports without the hassle of chasing the ball.

Max’s Courts are two mini-sized sports courts for little ones to enjoy soccer, basketball or group play. There’s full-court basketball that may also be transformed into a mini soccer pitch or volleyball court, plus table tennis and foosball tables. A walking track rings Goofy’s Sports Deck.

Nemo’s Reef
Little ones discover oceans of fun at this fanciful water-play area overflowing with pop jets, bubblers and lovable underwater friends like Nemo, Dory, Marlin and other favorites from the Disney•Pixar film, “Finding Nemo.”

Shaded for protection from the sun and featuring a soft wet-deck surface, the 1,500-square-foot Nemo’s Reef is a place for children to cool off and play among colorful, interactive figures that move and spray water. Children will delight as they splash alongside Nemo swimming in a sea anemone, glide down a pint-sized water slide shaped like Mr. Ray and frolic near Pearl the octopus who “inks” herself with a mist of water. Kids can even get soaked in a water curtain that undulates back and forth like the EAC (East Australian Current).

Nemo’s Reef is surrounded by a glass enclosure, with a main guest entrance and a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

Quiet Cove Pool and Cove Bar
Reserved exclusively for guests 18 and older, the Quiet Cove Pool and Cove Bar is a retreat for adults to sunbathe and swim, indulge in a cool drink or enjoy a relaxing dip in a nearby hot tub overlooking the ocean.

One of three fresh-water pools on the Disney Dream, Quiet Cove Pool features varying depths for taking a dip, sunbathing in comfort and enjoying a poolside cocktail. A series of connected circular pools includes a 4-foot-deep plunge pool and a 6-inch-deep sunbathing pool with built-in loungers and a mister. Guests also can splash up to Cove Bar, which is part of the pool, and sip a refreshing beverage.

Nearby, on the sides of deck 11, guests can soak in a whirlpool hot tub while overlooking the ocean. Four “infinity” whirlpool hot tubs – two for families and two just for adults – provide spectacular views of the ocean beyond.

AquaDuck and More!
The Disney Dream will feature the world’s first shipboard water coaster – AquaDuck – which will sweep guests away on an exhilarating high-speed flume ride featuring twists, turns, drops, uphill acceleration and river rapids – all while traversing the upper decks of the ship.

Donald Pool is the place for families to gather and enjoy all of the activities up on deck. Overlooking Donald Pool is the giant Funnel Vision LED screen – more than 30 feet wide and 18 feet high – showing Disney films and other live broadcast events. A retractable floor extends over the pool, providing an ideal dance floor for deck parties.

Continuing a favorite feature of the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, the Disney Dream will also have a Mickey Pool for children. The shape of Mickey Pool resembles the beloved Disney character, and an oversized version of Mickey’s hand supports a yellow winding slide that splashes down near the pool.

As an added convenience for parents with children of different ages, Donald Pool, Mickey Pool and Nemo’s Reef are all located within the same vicinity, on deck 11 between the forward and aft funnel.

das Design gefällt mir auf alle Fälle schon mal sehr gut.Nicht soo klotzig wie die Neulinge der Großen Drei.
Ansonsten scheint es sich doch um ein typisches US-Schiff zu handeln, bzw. für ein US-Publikum gemachtes Schiff:Erinnert ein wenig an die Las Vegas Hotels.Dort gibt es ebenfalls Achterbahnen usw.,das klassische Hotelfeeling kommt da auch schon laaange nicht mehr auf und trotzdem brechen die jede Jahr Besucherrekorde.

Hab noch nie ernsthaft dran gedacht mit Disney zu fahren - mich schrecken ein bisschen die Kinder ab - ab ein Erfolg wird das bestimmt!
